A book cover created by Aurora Cacciapuoti for a personal project doing a book cover a week. This follows on the heels of last year’s project drawing faces. Cacciapuoti is an Italian illustrator.

Portrait of the Elephant ‘Alam Guman, ca. 1640 (reign of Shah Jahan), India
Inscription: In Persian, in cartouche between elephant’s legs, possibly Shah Jahan’s handwriting: “Picture of ‘Alam-guman Gajraj (the arrogant one of the earth, king of elephants) whose value is one lakh rupees” (i.e. one hundred thousand rupees.). Verso: Leaf of Persian poetry; six lines of nasta’liq script written diagonally.
